Heart attack

A heart attack occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to a part of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle. The most common cause of a heart attack is a blood clot that forms in a coronary artery. Coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle.

Gladys Presley had several risk factors for heart disease, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. She was also a smoker. These risk factors likely contributed to the formation of a blood clot in one of her coronary arteries, which led to her heart attack.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. It is important to be aware of the risk factors for heart disease and to take steps to reduce your own risk. These steps include eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and not smoking.

If you have any of the risk factors for heart disease, it is important to talk to your doctor about ways to reduce your risk. Obesity

Obesity is a major risk factor for heart disease. It can lead to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, all of which can damage the heart and increase the risk of a heart attack.

How obesity contributes to heart disease
Obesity can contribute to heart disease in a number of ways. First, it can lead to high blood pressure. High blood pressure puts strain on the heart and can damage the heart muscle. Second, obesity can lead to high cholesterol. High cholesterol can build up in the arteries and narrow them, which can reduce blood flow to the heart. Third, obesity can lead to diabetes. Family history of heart disease

Heart disease is a complex condition that can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and environment. A family history of heart disease is a significant risk factor for developing the condition. This is because genes play a role in determining our cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and other factors that can affect heart health.

Age

The risk of heart disease increases with age. This is because the arteries become narrower and less flexible as we age, and the heart has to work harder to pump blood through them. In addition, the heart muscle itself can become weaker with age. As a result, even a relatively minor blockage in an artery can lead to a heart attack in an older person.
